SUMMER TIME TIPS!!

Summer time is governed by Pitta.  The following are a few ayurvedic tips to keep you cool & calm during this hot season!

DIET - avoid hot, spicy & pungent foods
favor foods that are sweet, bitter & astringent

Dairy - milk, butter and ghee are good. Reduce - yogurt, salty cheese & sour cream

Oils - olive, soy & coconut are best. Reduce - sesame, almond & corn.

Fruits - sweet fruits, grapes, melons, avocados, mangos. Reduce - sour fruits, grapefruits, papayas.

Veggies - asparagus, cucumbers, celery, leafy greens, zucchini. Reduce - hot peppers, garlic, spinach, beets, onions.

Spices - coriander, mint, fennel, cardamon. Reduce - ginger, clove, mustard seeds and salt.

Exercise Avoid exercise in the middle of the day when the sun is highest in the sky.  Its best to exercise in the early morning or after the heat of the day has past.  Enjoy swimming, moon light walks and gentle yoga.

I hope these tips help to make your summer more enjoyable!
